Christmas in Brisbane

Brisbane

Ok, we're heading north, into the tropics where we find the beautiful Brisbane! This glorious city features incredible coastlines, spectacular beaches and so much to do! Home to the theme parks and overly tanned locals you will not be disappointed by this destination.

So what can we do over Christmas besides submerging ourselves in the beautiful blue waters and epic sands on the beach? Let's take a look.

  1. Local Light Displays – Again, number one on the list consists of exploring the local lights by Brisbane locals. Visit https://www.familiesmagazine.com.au/christmas-lights-brisbane/ to get in-depth maps to drive the amazing city of lights.
  2. Carols by Candlelight – Brisbane doesn’t just have one main event they have multiple! Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols are at the top of the list with an epic list of entertainment and are perfect for the whole family. Carols in the Reservoir is a very unique experience being 6 meters underground in a 150-year-old water reservoir in the CBD with world-class performers and singers as the snow falls. Not to mention many local carols in an area near you, you don’t have to go without.
  3. The lighting of the Tree – When the time comes the Mayor of the city lights up this epic 22m high tree to symbolise the beginning of the festive season. You don’t want to miss this display in King George Square.
  4. The Lott – By Golden Casket City Hall Lights located also in King George’s Square will dazzle and amaze you with the amazing visual and sound display. Bring the whole family to this event and enjoy the classic Christmas tale that’s truly larger than life.
  5. Queen Street Mall – Enjoy the magic and spirit of Christmas at Queen Street Mall this Christmas with daily pop-up performances and entertainment.

  7. The Enchanted Garden – Located at Roma Street Parkland this magical display combines lighting, audio and special effects and of course digital art. This space includes 8000sqm of custom lights and audio creating a self-guided tour that narrates as you go.
  8. The Southbank Christmas Show – This nostalgic show really puts the magic and feeling into Christmas with live music, singing, dancing and a circus that makes this show fun!
  9. Santa’s stop over – Santa and Mrs Claus will be stopping the sleigh in the city for photos and a meet and greet and is a great cost-effective way to save on photos this year and snap your own! Located in Flowstate, South Bank make sure you take the kiddies down for this amazing event.
